MediCapture Announces High-Definition Video Recorder

MediCap™ USB300 Records HD Video Directly to Hard Drive or USB Flash Drive

DÜSSELDORF, GERMANY (November 19, 2008) – MediCapture Inc., a leading manufacturer of medical video recording solutions, announced today that it is adding a high-definition model to its line of medical video recorders. The MediCap™ USB300 records HD video from virtually any video source including endoscopes, arthroscopes, surgical cameras, ultrasounds, etc. The USB300 records directly to an internal hard drive or convenient USB flash drive. Videos are recorded in MPEG4 format, and still images can be saved in JPG, PNG, TIFF or DICOM formats. The USB300 can be connected to a network for easy transfer of video files.

“This is an exciting day for us,” commented Michael Bishop, MediCapture’s president and CEO. “The high-definition MediCap USB300 builds on our extensive experience with our standard-definition models, while it further strengthens our reputation for delivering easy medical video recording solutions at an affordable price. Like our previous models, the USB300 is exceptionally simple to use. By recording directly to a hard drive or USB flash drive, we’ve avoided all the time-consuming hassles associated with DVD disk recorders, like the long wait time while a DVD disk finalizes and the cumbersome filing, storing, and ‘ripping’ of DVD disks that each hold only about two hours of video. In contrast, the USB300’s hard drive stores up to two weeks of HD video that can be instantly accessed by any computer on a network – and the video files can be quickly transferred for long-term archiving and backup.”

“We’ve been listening to our OEM partners and major distributors who have been looking for ways to make HD recording accessible to a broader customer base,” continued Mr. Bishop. “So we designed the USB300 as a compact, friendly recorder that has the power of much larger HD systems, but at a fraction of the cost. We’re pleased to be releasing a highly affordable medical video recorder that puts the power of HD within the reach of every clinic and hospital.”

The MediCap USB300 is currently being previewed in MediCapture’s booth at the Medica 2008 tradeshow in Düsseldorf, Germany, and will be available commercially in Q1, 2009.
